Prospect Homes have received top marks for highlighting a diverse range of careers to pupils at a Lancashire high school.
Pupils at St Augustine’s in Billington were given advice about the variety of careers in the industry from our creative team, including customer service and marketing.
As part of the school’s annual Careers Week, Prospect’s head of sales Sam Palin, customer care manager Nia O’Sullivan, Mike Roberts from creative agency Atkinson Roberts, Alex Egan from Stanza Style and Laura Cox from CMS Advertising, headed into the school to talk to pupils from year eight and nine about their career paths.
Sam Palin said: “It was great to return to the school. This time round, we took in our creative agencies; Mike who looks after our branding, Alex who is our interior designer and Laura who works on our social media.
“We wanted to show that having a career in the housebuilding industry doesn’t necessarily mean physically building the homes. I think a lot of the children were interested in hearing about the social media and design side of things.”
Mrs Joanna Rutter, assistant head teacher at St Augustine’s said: “When it comes to deciding on a career, it can be overwhelming for our children, especially having to consider things at such a young age. It was great that Prospect showed a different side to their business because it showed our pupils just how diverse that particular industry is and all the various skillsets that are relevant. During the careers week we welcomed over 75 visitors into the school so we hope that our children have lots of food for thought.”
