A SCHOOL pupil from Burscough has been crowned the winner of Prospect’s ‘Nestled in Nature’ drawing competition.
The homebuilder invited children from primary schools across Burscough, close to its development on Orrell Lane, to draw nature they see locally and explain why nature is important to them.
The winner, 10-year-old Lilly, from Burscough Village Primary School, drew a nature scene that included the canal, apple trees and flowers. Her artwork is now displayed outside Bridgemere for everyone to see.
Kirsty Porter, Art Curriculum Leader at Burscough Village Primary School, said: “The children really enjoyed creating their entries to the Nestled in Nature competition. We are so proud of Lilly and can’t wait to visit the site in the new year and show the children all that happens in the process of building houses.”
Lilly and her class will visit Bridgemere in the new year to meet the site manager and sales team and explore the development. Prospect Homes also donated £100 in garden centre vouchers to the school that will be used to enhance a pathway at the school.
Sam Palin, head of sales at Prospect Homes said: “Lilly’s design is colourful, imaginative and her reasoning as to why nature is important was spot on. She said it ‘gives us air to breathe, water to drink, food to eat and somewhere to live.’
“We launched the competition to get the children to really think about the nature they are surrounded by in Burscough. Our development, Bridgemere, is on the edge of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal so our residents will see all sorts of nature from their homes – being close to nature has a huge appeal to our customers buying a home here.”
